My self-portraits represent many of my values: vulnerability, courage, honesty and self-exploration. While I was making them, in the late 1990's, they were a safe way for me to explore the myriad feelings and states of being. Through them I witnessed many aspects of myself, cultivating compassion along the way. At that time, I could share more of who I was with others by letting them see me through these portraits. Today I can be myself with others and these portraits were a big piece in helping me toward that.
